Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package of frozen puff pastry sheets (thawed)
- 1/2 cup basil pesto
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella or Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Fresh basil or parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Cut into a large triangle shape or freehand into a tree shape.
- Place the puff pastry on the prepared baking sheet.
- Spread basil pesto evenly over the pastry, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Arrange cherry tomato halves on top of the pesto, mimicking ornaments, and sprinkle shredded cheese over the entire surface.
- Cut slits into the edges to create a festive tree shape, then fold or curl the edges slightly outward for a textured look.
- Brush with beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden and puffed.
- Garnish with fresh herbs before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add sliced olives or roasted red peppers.
- Use prepared pesto for convenience, or make your own for a fresher taste.
- Serve warm or at room temperature for best flavor.
