Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup salted caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/2 teaspoon flaky sea salt, plus extra for finishing
- Optional: 1/2 cup chocolate chips for drizzle
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×9 inch pan with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour and powdered sugar. Cut in butter with a pastry blender or fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Press the crust evenly into the prepared pan. Bake 18-20 minutes until light golden. Let cool completely.
- Spread caramel sauce in an even layer over the cooled crust. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt and optional chocolate drizzle.
- Chill in the fridge for at least 2 hours, then cut into bars. Store in an airtight container.
Notes
- For extra softness, chill the crust before adding caramel. Use a thick, high-quality caramel for best flavor.
- To avoid overly sweet bars, balance with a pinch more sea salt on top.
- If you prefer a thicker caramel layer, double the caramel and increase the salt slightly.
