Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 large ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper or grease lightly.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, mash bananas with a fork, then whisk in both sugars, oil, egg, and vanilla until smooth.
- Pour wet ingredients into dry and stir until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips if using.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth top.
- Bake 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near center comes out with moist crumbs (not wet batter).
- Cool completely in pan before slicing into squares.
Notes
- Use very ripe bananas with lots of brown spots for max flavor and sweetness.
- Do not overmix after adding flour—it keeps brownies tender.
- For extra fudginess, slightly underbake by 1–2 minutes.
