Ingredients
Scale
- 2 fresh or frozen croissants (about 4 oz each), thawed if frozen
- 4 slices deli ham
- 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese (or Swiss/Cheddar blend)
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- Pinch of freshly cracked black pepper
- Few fresh rosemary sprigs, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Slice each croissant horizontally through the middle, being careful not to cut all the way through (hinge-style).
- Inside each croissant, layer 2 slices of ham and ¼ cup shredded cheese.
- Gently press the top and bottom halves back together to enclose the filling.
- Brush the outside of each croissant lightly with melted butter.
- Place on the baking sheet and bake for 6–8 minutes, or until golden brown and cheese is melted.
- Optional: Sprinkle with black pepper and garnish with rosemary before serving.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, toast croissants under the broiler for 1–2 minutes at the end—but watch closely.
- Can be made ahead: fill and assemble, then freeze unbaked. Bake straight from frozen, adding 2–3 minutes to bake time.
- Vegan option? Use plant-based ham, vegan cheese, andbrush with olive oil instead of butter.
