- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1/3 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- For glaze: 1 cup powdered sugar, 2-3 tbsp milk, 1 tsp maple syrup
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350F (175C). Line a 9×13 inch pan with parchment.
- Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt in a bowl.
- Whisk wet ingredients: buttermilk, maple syrup, melted butter, egg, vanilla.
- Combine wet and dry until just combined; avoid overmixing.
- Pour into pan; bake 18-22 minutes until a toothpick comes out with a few crumbs. Cool completely.
- Prepare glaze by whisking powdered sugar, milk, and maple syrup; drizzle over cooled bars and let set. Cut into squares.
Notes
- Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature or refrigerate for longer freshness.
- For extra maple flavor, add 1-2 tablespoons maple sugar to the batter or increase maple syrup to 1/2 cup.
- To freeze, wrap bars individually and store in the freezer for up to 2 months.
