Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • For glaze: 1 cup powdered sugar, 2-3 tbsp milk, 1 tsp maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F (175C). Line a 9×13 inch pan with parchment.
  2. Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Whisk wet ingredients: buttermilk, maple syrup, melted butter, egg, vanilla.
  4. Combine wet and dry until just combined; avoid overmixing.
  5. Pour into pan; bake 18-22 minutes until a toothpick comes out with a few crumbs. Cool completely.
  6. Prepare glaze by whisking powdered sugar, milk, and maple syrup; drizzle over cooled bars and let set. Cut into squares.
