Instructions
- Beat mascarpone with sugar and vanilla until smooth.
- Whip cream to soft peaks, then fold into mascarpone mixture until combined.
- Dip ladyfingers briefly into cooled espresso; do not soak.
- Arrange a layer of dipped ladyfingers in a dish; spread mascarpone mixture over.
- Repeat layers; finish with mascarpone and dust with cocoa powder. Refrigerate at least 4 hours or overnight.
Notes
- Make ahead for best flavor; overnight chilling deepens the flavors.
- For a lighter version, substitute part of the mascarpone with whipped Greek yogurt.
- Use strong espresso for authentic taste; Marsala or coffee liqueur is optional for adults.
