Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1/8 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine blueberries, sugar, and lemon juice in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Bring to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally.
  3. As berries soften (3–4 minutes), use a wooden spoon to gently crush some berries for a thicker texture.
  4. Stir in lemon zest, vanilla, and cinnamon (if using).
  5. Cook 2–3 more minutes until mixture thickens and coats the back of a spoon.
  6. Remove from heat and let cool slightly — it will continue thickening as it cools.
