- 2 ripe bananas, mashed (about 1 cup)
- 1/3 cup melted unsalted butter
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, mix mashed bananas and melted butter.
- Stir in sugar, egg, and vanilla until combined.
- Sprinkle in baking soda and salt; mix in.
- Fold in flour and cocoa powder until just combined—do not overmix.
- Gently fold in chocolate chips.
- Pour batter into prepared pan. Smooth top.
- Bake 55–65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near center comes out clean (some cocoa streaks are fine).
- Cool in pan 10 minutes. Transfer to wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
Notes
- For extra moisture: Add 1/4 cup Greek yogurt or sour cream.
- Gluten-free option: Swap flour for 1:1 GF blend.
- Storage: Keep wrapped at room temp 2 days, or refrigerate up to 5 days.
