Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 to 4 tablespoons cold water
- 3 cups apples, peeled and sliced
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- ½ cup oats
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (for crumb topping)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare the pie crust by mixing flour, sugar, and salt; incorporate cold butter until crumbly, adding water until the dough forms. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Roll out the chilled dough and transfer it to a pie dish, crimping the edges. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Mix the sliced apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and vanilla; fill the prepared crust with the coated apples.
- Create the crumb topping by combining oats, flour, and melted butter, then sprinkle it over the apple filling. Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
- For longer storage, wrap the pie and freeze for up to 2 months; reheat before serving.
- Enhance with whipped cream or ice cream for a magical finish.
