- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 4 burger buns
- Pickles slices
- 1/2 cup Nashville hot sauce (see instructions)
Instructions
- Marinate chicken breasts in buttermilk for 30 minutes.
- Mix flour, cayenne, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a shallow dish.
- Dredge marinated chicken in the seasoned flour, pressing to adhere.
- Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat.
- Fry chicken until golden brown and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes per side.
- Drain on paper towels.
- Toss hot fried chicken in Nashville hot sauce until evenly coated.
- Toast burger buns lightly.
- Assemble sandwiches with chicken, pickles, and top with remaining hot sauce if desired. Serve immediately.
