Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, warm water, sourdough starter, and optional sugar. Stir until well combined.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until elastic and smooth.
- Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm location for 4-6 hours, until doubled in size.
- Once risen, deflate the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and crusty.
Notes
- Store bread in a paper bag at room temperature for up to 3-5 days.
- For longer storage, slice and freeze in an airtight bag.
- A steam pan in the oven helps create a perfect crust.
