Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey or brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1 teaspoon rice vinegar (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Green onions, sliced (for garnish)
- Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey or brown sugar, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes. Set aside.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Lower heat, then add minced garlic and grated ginger to the skillet. Cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Pour the sauce over the cooked beef. Stir well to coat evenly and cook for 2-3 minutes until the flavors meld and the sauce thickens slightly.
- Drizzle with sesame oil, then garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot over rice or your favorite grain.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave or skillet. Freeze for up to one month; thaw completely before reheating.
- Pair with steamed jasmine rice or cauliflower rice for a low-carb option. Add vegetables or kimchi for extra flavor and texture.
