- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin

- 1 teaspoon paprika (for color)
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon grated ginger
- 2 teaspoons coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon chili powder (adjust to taste)
- 400g canned tomato sauce or pureed tomatoes
- 1/2 cup heavy cream or coconut cream
- Salt to taste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine yogurt, lemon juice, salt, garam masala, cumin, turmeric, and paprika. Add the chicken pieces and coat thoroughly. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or overnight for deeper flavors.
- Preheat a large skillet or pan over medium heat. Add a tablespoon of oil and cook the marinated chicken until browned and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
- In the same pan, melt the butter. Add chopped onions and cook until translucent. Stir in garlic and ginger, cooking for another minute. Add coriander, cumin, chili powder, and cook for 30 seconds to release their aroma.
- Pour in the tomato sauce or pureed tomatoes, stirring well. Let the mixture simmer for 10 minutes. Stir in heavy cream and cooked chicken. Cook for another 5 minutes, until the sauce is creamy and fully heated. Adjust seasoning as needed.
