Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 lb ground pork
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 tsp allspice
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, chopped onion, allspice, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Mix well and roll into small meatballs.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Brown the meatballs in a skillet over medium heat until cooked through, then transfer to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In the same skillet, melt butter, whisk in flour to create a roux, then gradually add beef broth, stirring to avoid lumps. Stir in sour cream and Dijon mustard, and season with salt and pepper.
- Pour the sauce over the meatballs in the baking dish. Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until bubbly.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add Worcestershire sauce to either the meatball mix or the sauce.
- You can use pre-made Swedish meatballs if you’re short on time; adjust baking time as needed.
- Ensure the sauce is thick enough to coat the meatballs to prevent drying out.
- Serve with mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or rice for a complete meal.
