Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until combined.
  6. Stir in oats, chocolate chips, and chopped nuts.
  7. Drop spoonfuls onto prepared baking sheets, spacing about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden and slightly cracked on top.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on wire racks before serving.

Notes

  • Can substitute nuts with dried fruit for a different flavor.
