Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Meanwhile, in a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt.
- Add melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and the yeast mixture. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, approximately 1 hour.
- Punch down the risen dough. Roll into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick.
- Spread softened butter if desired, then tightly roll up from the longer side. Slice into 1 to 1.5-inch pieces.
- Place rolls in a greased baking dish, leaving space. Cover and let rise for an additional 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake rolls for 15-20 minutes until golden. Cool slightly before frosting.
- To prepare frosting, whisk together powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth. Adjust consistency as needed.
- Spread frosting over warm rolls. Serve warm or at room temperature, optionally garnished with additional frosting or cinnamon.
