  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 large potatoes, sliced thin
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup canned corn (optional)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess fat, then add chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook until translucent, about 3-5 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
  2. Peel and thinly slice the potatoes for even cooking.
  3. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread a layer of cooked ground beef and onion in a greased baking dish. Layer sliced potatoes on top.
  4. Pour over milk, add butter, and sprinkle shredded cheese evenly. Add canned corn if desired.
  5. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 35-40 minutes until potatoes are tender. Remove foil during the last 10 minutes to allow cheese to melt and develop a crust.

Notes

  • Using thinly sliced potatoes ensures even cooking and a creamy texture.
  • You can add vegetables like green beans or carrots for extra nutrition.
  • Extra cheese can be added on top before baking for a cheesier flavor.
  • This casserole can be assembled in advance and baked later for added convenience.
