Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 4 large potatoes, sliced thin
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup canned corn (optional)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon paprika (optional)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess fat, then add chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook until translucent, about 3-5 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
- Peel and thinly slice the potatoes for even cooking.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread a layer of cooked ground beef and onion in a greased baking dish. Layer sliced potatoes on top.
- Pour over milk, add butter, and sprinkle shredded cheese evenly. Add canned corn if desired.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 35-40 minutes until potatoes are tender. Remove foil during the last 10 minutes to allow cheese to melt and develop a crust.
Notes
- Using thinly sliced potatoes ensures even cooking and a creamy texture.
- You can add vegetables like green beans or carrots for extra nutrition.
- Extra cheese can be added on top before baking for a cheesier flavor.
- This casserole can be assembled in advance and baked later for added convenience.
