- 1 prepared pizza crust
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 cup Gruyere cheese, shredded
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until caramelized, about 20 minutes. Sprinkle with sugar, salt, and pepper during cooking.
- Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C).
- Spread caramelized onions evenly over the prepared pizza crust.
- Top with shredded Gruyere and mozzarella cheeses.
- Sprinkle chopped thyme over the cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Remove from oven, let cool slightly, then slice and serve.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a splash of red wine or balsamic vinegar to the caramelized onions.
- Best served hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
