Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
- 3/4 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
Instructions
- In a small bowl, activate yeast with warm milk and a pinch of sugar. Let sit until frothy (5-10 minutes).
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt.
- Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg to the dry ingredients. Mix until dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth and elastic (about 5 minutes).
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Punch down the dough and divide into 8 equal pieces.
- Shape each piece into a round ball and place on a greased baking sheet.
- Let rise for another 15-20 minutes.
