Ingredients
Scale
- 4 bone-in pork chops (1-inch thick)
- salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
- 8 oz cremini mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- Optional: 1/4 cup heavy cream for extra richness
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Season pork chops generously with salt and pepper.
- In a large oven-safe skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear pork chops 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown. Transfer to a plate.
- Reduce heat to medium, add butter, then onions and mushrooms. Sauté 8–10 minutes until soft and golden.
- Add garlic, cook 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and thyme. Return pork chops to skillet, nestling into the sauce.
- Transfer skillet to oven and bake 25–30 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 145°F.
- Optional: Stir in heavy cream just before serving.
- Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For extra tenderness, tent with foil after baking.
- Boneless chops will cook faster—check at 15–20 minutes.
- Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles.
