Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup strong brewed coffee (preferably espresso)
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons unflavored gelatin powder
- 1/4 cup cold water
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Optional: cocoa powder or shaved chocolate for garnish
Instructions
- Begin by brewing a strong cup of coffee or espresso. Stir in the sugar until fully dissolved, then cool to room temperature.
- Sprinkle the gelatin powder over cold water in a small bowl. Let sit for 5 minutes to bloom, then gently heat until fully dissolved.
- Pour the dissolved gelatin into the cooled coffee mixture and stir well. Allow to cool further.
- Whip the heavy cream with vanilla extract to soft peaks in a chilled bowl.
- Carefully fold the coffee and gelatin mixture into the whipped cream using a spatula, maintaining fluffiness.
- Pour the mousse into serving dishes and refrigerate for at least 2 hours until set. Garnish with cocoa powder or shaved chocolate before serving.
Notes
- Use high-quality coffee beans for a richer flavor.
- Serve in elegant glasses or small jars for an impressive presentation.
- For an added flavor dimension, mix in a splash of coffee liqueur like Kahlua or Baileys.
- Never freeze the mousse, as it affects the texture.
