- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and whisk together the flour and baking soda in a medium mixing bowl.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated and brown sugar, and salt until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until combined. Fold in the chocolate chips and walnuts.
- Drop rounded balls of dough onto a lined baking sheet and bake for 9-11 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
Notes
- For chewier cookies, do not overmix the dough after adding the flour.
- Store leftover cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
- To freeze, place cookies in a freezer-safe container or resealable bag for up to three months.
