Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 1 egg, beaten

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit until frothy, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add flour, salt, melted butter, and beaten egg to the yeast mixture. Knead until smooth.
  3. Cover the dough and let rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle. Spread mozzarella, Parmesan, and herbs over the dough.
  6. Roll up the dough tightly, then shape into a loaf or braid as desired.
  7. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment. Brush with additional beaten egg.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and cheese is bubbly.
