  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk
  • Food coloring (various colors)
  • Buttercream frosting
  • Sprinkles and edible glitter (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in vanilla.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients alternately with the milk, mixing until smooth.
  6. Divide the batter into separate bowls for coloring.
  7. Grease and flour two round cake pans.
  8. Pour the colored batter into the pans, filling them about 2/3 full.
  9. Bake for approximately 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Let the cakes cool for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  11. Place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread buttercream frosting on top.
  12. Carefully place the second layer on top and frost the entire cake.
  13. Use colored buttercream to pipe butterfly wings on the sides of the cake.
  14. Finish with colorful sprinkles and edible glitter.
