Ingredients
For the Rock Candy Clusters:
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 tsp clear flavor extract (e.g., vanilla, almond, or peppermint)
- Blue gel food coloring (for vibrant, Heisenberg-blue hue)
- 1 tbsp vodka or clear alcohol (optional, enhances crystallization)
For Decoration (Optional):
- Edible glitter or silver luster dust
- Small plastic baggies or parchment paper for “evidence bag” presentation
Instructions
- Preparing the Sugar Syrup: - In a medium saucepan, combine sugar and water over medium heat. Stir gently until sugar dissolves.
- Bring the mixture to a slow boil, avoiding stirring once it reaches boiling temperature. Use a candy thermometer to monitor the heat.
- Allow the syrup to reach 300°F (hard crack stage)—this ensures a crisp, glassy texture.
 - Coloring the Syrup: - Once the mixture reaches 300°F, remove from heat and immediately stir in flavor extract and vodka (if using).
- Add blue gel food coloring, stirring just enough to distribute the color evenly.
 - Creating the Crystals: - Carefully pour the hot syrup onto a parchment-lined baking sheet or into silicone molds.
- Let the candy cool at room temperature for 24–48 hours to allow crystallization.
 - Shaping the Clusters: - Once hardened, break the candy into irregular, rock-like chunks using a mallet or rolling pin.

- Decorating the Clusters: - Lightly dust the candy with edible glitter or silver luster dust to enhance its crystal-like shine.
- For a fun party presentation, place clusters into small plastic bags and seal with a twist tie for a realistic “evidence bag” effect.

- Serving Suggestions: - Serve at Breaking Bad watch parties, Halloween events, or science-themed celebrations.
- Pair with blue curaçao cocktails or mocktails for a thematic touch.
- Store in an airtight container to maintain crispness for up to 2 weeks.

Notes
- Use gel food coloring for the deepest Heisenberg-blue hue.
- Avoid using liquid food coloring, as it can weaken crystallization.
- The vodka helps create a shinier, more crystalline structure but is optional and evaporates during cooking.
