Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound (450g) of ground beef or sliced sirloin strips
- 8 oz (225g) of fettuccine or your choice of pasta
- 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
- Red pepper flakes (optional for a spicy kick)
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, saving a little pasta water for later.
- In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of butter over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef or sliced beef and season with salt and pepper. Cook until browned and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant but not browned.
- Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and the sauce thickens slightly. Add optional red pepper flakes for extra heat.
- Return the cooked beef to the skillet, stirring to coat it in the sauce. Add the cooked pasta and toss to combine. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of reserved pasta water to reach your desired consistency.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop or microwave, adding a bit of milk or cream to loosen the sauce.
- For added flavor, sprinkle extra Parmesan and chopped parsley before serving. Consider serving with crusty bread or garlic bread for a complete meal.
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for beef for a leaner version.
