  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (450g) of ground beef or sliced sirloin strips
  • 8 oz (225g) of fettuccine or your choice of pasta
  • 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 cup of heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
  • Red pepper flakes (optional for a spicy kick)

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, saving a little pasta water for later.
  2. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of butter over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef or sliced beef and season with salt and pepper. Cook until browned and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant but not browned.
  4. Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and the sauce thickens slightly. Add optional red pepper flakes for extra heat.
  5. Return the cooked beef to the skillet, stirring to coat it in the sauce. Add the cooked pasta and toss to combine. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of reserved pasta water to reach your desired consistency.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop or microwave, adding a bit of milk or cream to loosen the sauce.
  • For added flavor, sprinkle extra Parmesan and chopped parsley before serving. Consider serving with crusty bread or garlic bread for a complete meal.
  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for beef for a leaner version.
